Emily Dickinson once wrote, "Hope is a thing with feathers." And it seems like a baby macaque monkey in China would agree with her 100 percent – though his interpretation may not be exactly what the reclusive poet had in mind.
Malnourished and near death at the time of his rescue from Neilingding Island, the poor primate had been abandoned by his mother as a mere infant. When he was brought to an animal hospital on mainland China, his chances of survival weren't looking so great – that is, until he came across the most unlikely of companions: A white pigeon.
Since befriending the bird, the baby macaque has steadily regained his health and strength, and the two friends are now inseparable. Who says interspecies love can't work out?
